Three Month Update

Oops, I haven’t updated in a while. And even given the long break, I don’t have much writing progress to update. I have managed to read nearly fifty books in the past three months. Here are a few I loved:

Book five in the series and shit just got super real in this one. I just know my heart is going to be broken soon.

I have never read a story from this author before, but this one was immediately placed in my favourites folder on my kindle. I LOVED Georgia and she has also become one of my top heroines ever. I was blown away with this and would recommend to every romance reader!

Another new to me author and I was blown away by this book. A serious story with humour scattered throughout. I was glue to my kindle reading this and a new author for me to keep an eye out on.

This is the fifth book in this series and another absolute winner. I love how Langlais writes her heroines and they are always one of my favourite things about her stories. They are always so strong and capable and I never have any cringe moments. This is a must read for paranormal fans!

The final book in the Kodiak Point series and it was fantastic. I know this is going to be a series I will re-read over and over and as soon as I finished this one, I grabbed my paperback copy for the first book and started it again. So amazing!

One of my top authors is Eden and this is because she is such an incredible writer and I always know I will be consumed by her stories. This one was no different. I love the concept, loved how it began and how Luke and Mina were with each other. Everything about this one hit all the right notes for me. A must read for paranormal fans!

I couldn’t wait for Reign’s book and this one absolutely lived up to my expectations. Incredible!

I had no idea what to expect and turns out, I should have just known I would love it. Amazing, stunning and a story I know I will re-read over and over.

Book four in this series and another winner. I’m finding it hard to stretch this series out so I don’t rush it. This is definitely one of my all-time favourite series ever.

The final two books in this series were fantastic. A must read for Ashley fans. Action, drama and a romance to cheer for. Loved them!

I am hoping to do some writing at least in the next couple months. I have a few ideas I am in love with and it is just my laziness, and the high quality of books waiting on my kindle, and ones which keep being released, which keeps me from writing. Fingers crossed I can find some willpower soon.

Happy reading!

April Update

Well, April was a bit of a mixed bag for me. On one hand I finished the third book in my new series, however I hit a block when it came to the novella so I decided to go back to book one and start editing. I absolutely hated the first few chapters which was super disheartening. So I decided the best course of action was to bury my head and kindle in the sand and just read instead.

So my writing went nowhere, BUT I read some amazing books! Here are a few I loved:

I knew I would enjoy this since I love the Rylee Adamson series and I connect to Mayer’s writing. I didn’t expect to completely fall in love with this story, the characters and the world. Wow. Incredible. I can’t bring myself to read book two yet just so I can savior this a little bit more.

I’ve read a few dragon stories, but I loved the world and rules Georgette created for this one. These dragons were so interesting and the forbidden love that was the center of this story was so wonderfully written. I am glad to hear she will be entering this world again soon and I can’t wait to read more.

I have love the previous two books in this series and I was pretty nervous going into Jimmy’s book. He was such an ass in the first book that I worried I wouldn’t be able to connect to him. Instead, I think I might just love him the most. Fantastic story, writing and banter. I loved every single page.

Wow, I was completely hooked on this story right from the heartbreaking beginning to the last page. I was enthralled and riveted to my kindle as this story took over my world. I lived and breathed it and it is my favourite of the series.

I hope everyone has a fantastic May! Fingers crossed it can be more productive for me…

March Update

Not a real lot to report on for March. I’m nearing the end of the third book in my still untitled new series. My plan was originally to write the first three and then go back over to begin editing, but I’ve had an idea for a novella sized fourth book to round off the first three books… so that means I need to finish that one before I go back over them all. If all goes well, this series should begin releasing close to the end of the year. I will keep details posted on the progress on this blog.

March was another great reading month! Here are some I loved:

My Healer by Alanea Alder  is the third book in the Bewitched and Bewildered series. I LOVED this one and this entire series. This is honestly a must read series for paranormal fans. I have now purchased all these books in paperbacks so I can stare lovingly at them always!

Play by Kylie Scott was fantastic! I LOVED Lick and was terrified that I would find the rest of this series lacking because of my high expectations. Instead I ended up loving Play just as much as Lick. I'm not usually one for rock star books, but this one was brilliant.

The Hooker and the Hermit by L. H. Cosway and Penny Reid was so much fun. It was exactly what I felt like and I fell in love with Annie, our heroine. I really connected to her and obviously Ronan was amazing, too. This was a feel good romance and I laughed, swooned and smiled a lot.

Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley was a fun read which entered the reader into a new world which I loved. I think my favourite character was Gwen and I loved following her on this journey. It had plenty of angst, drama and action and was perfect!

Rock Chick Renegade by Kristen Ashley was another great entry into this series. I love revisiting everyone from the previous books and I'm trying to pace myself so I don't finish this series too quickly.

I hope everyone had a fantastic March and has a successful April. I’m going to attempt to get this third book done and the novella, too. Fingers crossed!

February Update

So, February went by way too fast. It was very much a reading month and not a writing month for me. I read some great reads, which I will list a few below. I was also overwhelmed by the support Revolution received and grateful for all the blogs who signed up for the review tour and the blitz. Everyone was so incredibly kind and generous. I felt very lucky!

So now to some of the books I read during February, all of which I would absolutely recommend!

Waking the Dragon – Juliette Cross (incredible world building and such a fantastic story!)

Pleasure of a Dark Prince – Kresley Cole (Another fantastic addition to the IAD series. An absolute must read!)

Rock Chick Rescue – Kristen Ashley (A fun, action-filled story that left me laughing and gasping!)

Rock Chick Redemption - Kristen Ashley (A heart-warming story about learning to trust and love again, with all the trademark humour and action from the previous books.)

Tiger in her Bed – Lizzie Lynn Lee (a quick, fun and well written story about a boss and his clueless employee!)

Have a great March everybody!

January Update!

Revolution has now been out for a week and I’ve gotten some great feedback so far! I quickly want to thank everyone for their support with the release and soon there will be a book tour and blitz happening.

Since I took a couple weeks off my full time job I had a lot more time to read and write this month. I’m working on something new with my writing and just in this month I’ve finished two first-drafts of a new paranormal world. I want to finish one more before I properly look at it to see if this new series is worth publishing. I will keep that progress updated on here.

I have read some fantastic books in January! Here are some I loved:

The Vampire's Mail Order Bride - Kristen Painter (Paranormal Romance - great writing, world building and funny banter!)

My Protector - Alanea Alder (Paranormal Romance and just like book one, it was hilarious! Also I think I might honestly be completely in love with Gavriel)

A Tiger's Bride - Eve Langlais (Paranormal Romance and I just read that there might be another one coming in the form of a story about Luna. Fingers crossed!)

Ready To Were - Robyn Peterman (Paranormal Romance. Gotta love a strong heroine!)

Tied To Trouble - Megan Erickson (m/m Romance. Great banter and chemistry!)

I hope you all got some great reading in as well, and will update you next month! Have a great Feb everyone!

2015 Update

First update for the year! Although this might place the date as 31st of Dec. In Australia it’s the first and I spent my NYE reading and eating pizza. It was perfect.

My next update will be roughly in a week which will include the cover reveal for Revolution. So I thought I could use this one to post my best reads for 2015.

A series of short paranormal reads that I breezed through. I love how Eden writes and the worlds she manages to create. A special mention to Hotter After Midnight which I loved, Once Bitten, Twice Burned, and I read and loved Marked By The Vampire and Charming The Beast which were fantastic also. I can’t wait to continue on with both of those series.

I picked this book up on a whim and fell completely in love. I love Ashenden’s writing. I loved this group of people she created and even though I read it completely out of order (book 3 first, then I went back and read Talking Dirty With The CEO, the first book , and finally Talking Dirty With The Player the second) it didn’t stop my love for them all.

This was such a great shifter story. I loved every character introduced and I love how Kyle writes her heroines. Feisty and hilarious. This is definitely a book I could read over and over and I love the new covers she has created for this. I hope to finish the series this year. Special mentions to All Roar and No Bite and Roaring Up The Wrong Tree, the next two books in the Grayslake Series. As well as You're Kitten Me which is the second book in a new series.

This is possibly one of my most favourite books ever. I LOVED the humour used and there was a perfect mix of romance and action thrown in. This was such a great opening to what I have found to be an amazing series. I loved Outfoxed By Love and Polar Bared and am desperate to keep going with this series as well as her spin off series. A special mention also to When An Alpha Purrs which I LOVED. Hilarious and sweet, I honestly couldn’t put it down. Another series I found and loved was her Welcome To Hell series which I hope to continue with this year.

I loved the TV show Miranda and coincidentally love Miranda Hart, too. Her voice just speaks to me in a way that makes me pay attention and listen. I always end up crying from laughter at how funny she is. She is fearless and tells it how it is in the most hilarious way possible. Her book was so wonderful. I loved every chapter and I know I will read this over and over for the rest of my life. Insightful, funny and brilliant. I loved it!

This was such a surprise find. I had seen the book floating around on recommended pages on Amazon, but never took much notice of it. Then I did and I was blown away. Hilarious, fun and full of action. This was perfect and I couldn’t stop talking about it. I suggested (maybe forced…) friends to buy this and I relived in my head and randomly (to others around me) laughed about that period scene. So funny! Even now I’m smiling about it. I hope to finish this series this year. Sometimes when I find a book I love so much, I hold off on continuing with the next in the series just so I can savour the first one. But this year I know I won’t be able to hold off much longer.

This was another random find and I have to say, this had some of the best banter I have ever read. So funny and brilliantly written. I fell in love with this group of friends and couldn’t wait to read more. Keeping in with reading out of order (since this is book three in the series, although all standalones) I then read the second book, Prima Donna, and fell in love with that one, too.

I finished off a series I loved. Starfire was bittersweet and wonderful. I loved it and was so sad to end my time with Peaches. This will remain one of my most favourite series of all time. I loved how strong, funny and brave Peaches was. I loved that each book had a different love interest focus and showed that women have choices. I don’t think I’ve ever read this in a book before for women, or at least not without some sort of cheating element or without making me feel uncomfortable. Strong’s writing and creation was such a breath of fresh air. To me it was perfect and a series I will most definitely re-read.

I have loved many of St. Clair’s books and I love the shifter worlds she creates. I think she is an amazing author and I admire her so much. Some other special mentions for books I have loved by her in 2015 are: The Bear Who Loved MeTaken By The Alpha and My Heart Laid BearIf you haven’t already, you should definitely check out her books.

And because I could go on forever, here are some other titles I loved for 2015:

Forgotten Sins - Rebecca Zanetti. Windburn and Nightbloom - Juliette Cross. Hard As It Gets - Laura Kaye. Killing Sarai - J.A. Redmerski. A Lot Like Love - Julie James. Semper Mine - Lizzy Ford. Rock Hard - Nalini Singh. Seven Years - Dannika Dark. Rylee Adamson Series - Shannon Mayer. FiancĂ© By Friday and Single By Saturday - Catherine Bybee. IAD Series - Kresley Cole. Curious - R.G. Alexander. Easy Love and Easy With You - Kristen Proby. Marked - Kaylea Cross. Sheriff Bear - Zoe Chant. Wrong Number, Right Guy - Elle Casey. Handcuffed To The Bear - Lauren Esker. Alpha's Darkling Bride - Linda Barlow and last but not least, Beauty and the Boss - Diane Alberts.

I managed to read a total of 153 books this year, which is not bad. I only published two books, which helps. I have more to add to the list above, but I could be here for the next year trying to figure out how to add them all so I just have to stop it there. There are so many amazing authors and even more amazing books I still need to find and read. I have hundreds of books on my kindle unread and after making a folder labelled “Read Next” and going through my kindle and filling it with books I want to read soon, I managed to place 225 books in there. I technically don’t need to buy books for at least a year (more years if I add in the other books unread on my kindle) and still, one of the first things I did today was take a wistful look over my wishlist. I clearly have issues.

Anyway, to end this incredibly long post, I just want to thank everyone for their support this past year and I hope everyone had a safe end of the year and best wishes to all for a fantastic 2016!

Happy reading!
